The acquisition of the contract further strengthens the company's position as a major propeller supplier to the US submarine fleet. Joe Sentfle, vice president and general manager of weapons systems at BAE Systems, said, "The propellers we supply will enhance the overall stealth and efficiency of the submarine, demonstrating the Navy's confidence in our high standards of products and delivery capabilities."
It is reported that if the alternative contract is also in force, the company's contract value will reach 162.9 million US dollars. To date, the company has delivered more than 20 thrusters to the Navy's Seawolf and Virginia Class submarines.
In addition to the thrusters, the company's contract also includes manufacturing-related spare hardware. Production of the above equipment will begin this year and will be delivered by 2022 and will be produced at BAE Systems' Louisville, Kentucky facility.
