“The strategy of SAIC and Iveco's restructuring of Hongyan is very correct and of great significance! Perhaps the acquisition of Hongyan Automobile is the best opportunity in the field of domestic commercial vehicles.” Before returning to Chongqing, Yang Shuyi, General Manager of SAIC Iveco Hongyan Received a reporter intercept interview in his office.

Yang Shuyi first met with him, his passionate words and his high evaluation of SAIC's restructuring of Red Rock left a very deep impression. Although there is no tall appearance, the fast pace of speech and the bright eyes always have a wonderful appeal. Between laughter, it shows an unquestionable pride and self-confidence.

“This is the largest automotive cooperation project between the governments of Shanghai and Chongqing, as well as a key project supporting the development of the western region in Shanghai. It has received the highest attention and full support from the governments of the two places. A cooperation framework was signed on December 16, 2005. The agreement was attended by executive deputy mayor of Chongqing Huang Qifan and Shanghai Mayor Hu Yanzhao at the signing ceremony. Yang Shuyi is very excited about the birth experience of SAIC's commercial vehicle project.

In 2005, in order to accelerate the development strategy of SAIC's commercial vehicles, SAIC launched a joint venture project for commercial vehicles, referred to as the 908 project. In March 2006, Yang Shuyi left the Shanghai office where he worked for more than 20 years and was the head of the 908 project team of SAIC. He participated in the negotiation of the SAIC and Iveco vehicles and the joint venture project with the Fiat Powertrain and the reorganization of the Hongyan automobile. .

"In July 2006, SAIC Motor completed the negotiation of all commercial vehicle projects. The Chinese and Italian Quartet held a signing ceremony for the joint venture and engine of the entire vehicle and engine in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The Chinese and Italian Prime Ministers attended the signing ceremony." During the entire project negotiation process, Yang Shuyi admits that "the negotiations are very difficult."

Yang Shuyi graduated from Huazhong Institute of Technology and was assigned to the Shanghai Institute of Internal Combustion Engines in the former Ministry of Machinery Industry in 1984. He has been engaged in product development and technical research for more than 20 years. He used his own scientific research achievements to bring back the second prize for scientific and technological progress in the national machinery industry in 1996. In 1998, he was promoted to a professor level engineer. In 1999, he was appointed deputy director of Shangnei. At present, he also serves as executive deputy chairman and secretary-general of China Internal Combustion Engine Institute, and member of the 7th China Association for Science and Technology and other social organizations. “I was participating in such a major commercial vehicle joint venture project negotiation for the first time, and was also the first time to participate in the reorganization of enterprises in the two places and the production, operation and management of the joint venture.” Negotiations and red rock reorganization for the participation in the joint venture cooperation project of SAIC Commercial Vehicles. At work, Yang Shuyi is very fortunate to think that this is a good challenge and exercise.

In October 2006, SAIC officially took over the company and began to conduct substantive operations. As the head of the commercial vehicle project, Yang Shuyi became the best candidate for the general manager of the joint venture. When SAIC Motor Co., Ltd. recommended that Yang Shuyi be the general manager of SAIC Motor’s joint venture, he expressed his firm obedience and did not make any requests to the leaders. After coming to the company, Yang Shuyi immediately devoted himself to the production, operation and management of the company.

Yang Shuyi believes that for enterprises to achieve this year's target, the key must be to do a good job of market and cost work, and to reengineer the process. To this end, at the beginning of his term of office, he led the employees of the company’s cadres to grasp the management and to grasp the market. “In order to expand production capacity, the company invested 300,000 yuan in local technological transformation of key processes, opened a bottleneck that restricts production, reengineered processes, adjusted logistics, subdivided production processes, and strengthened set management so that vehicle production capacity increased month by month. Now the daily production has been increased from the original 50-60 units to 120 units, and the production capacity has been doubled. At the same time, comprehensive budget management has been implemented and the accounting units have been reduced; only the corporate diffusion parts have been re-priced, and the cost has been reduced to more than 17 million yuan. This year, we hope that the total cost will decrease by 6%."

"The company's sales target this year is to ensure that vehicle sales increase by more than 40% year-on-year, and sales revenue will increase by more than 20% year-on-year. Market share will increase by 1 percentage point year-on-year. In the first half of the year, 14189 vehicles were sold, with sales of 3.3 billion yuan, up year-on-year. It increased by 97%.” To expand the market, Yang Shuyi led sales staff to visit customers, investigate the market, and visited the automotive markets and 18 offices in 17 provinces and cities across the country within three months. He also discussed with large users and distributors. At the same time, changing the marketing model to improve user satisfaction has greatly encouraged the confidence of users and distributors in SAIC’s joint venture brands.

Yang Shuyi stated that the joint venture will strive to build the company into a high-starting and professional heavy-duty base that plays a decisive role in the country and has a place in the world through three to five years of efforts. Yang Shuyi only expressed embarrassment that from last year to this year when her daughter was enrolled in college, she was unable to give her daughter more care because she was working in Chongqing. After we finished the interview, we learned that Yang Shuyi’s daughter’s 500 points college entrance examination score will be accepted by the Central University for Nationalities, her first choice.
