Japan’s Isuzu Motors Corp. announced that the company’s plant in the Philippines has stopped production on April 18. The reasons for the suspension of production are the same as those of other Japanese automakers. The reason is that the supply of spare parts has been affected by the earthquake in Japan.

It is understood that the Isuzu Philippines company's production activities rely heavily on imported parts in Japan, so the company expects the supply of spare parts to return to normal as soon as possible.

Isuzu Motors stated that the company's plant in the Philippines will be shut down from April 18 to May 2, and will suspend production for a total of 14 days. Although there was an interruption in the production of the plant, Isuzu Motors was still full of confidence in the company's 2011 car sales target. The company believes that this year's car sales will achieve a 17% increase.

In addition, Isuzu President Susumu Hosoi also responded to previous media reports that Volkswagen will buy Suzuki shares. Hiroyuki said: “He prefers to keep the company independent and only enter new markets and new areas. It is time to consider cooperation with other companies."

Yuki Kato, executive vice president of Isuzu Filipino, pointed out that Isuzu Motor Co. did not suffer much damage in the March earthquake in Japan, but some auto parts suppliers of the company were seriously damaged.
