As far as automobiles are concerned, China’s commitment to reduce taxes on imported vehicles and parts has been implemented on July 1, 2006. The tariff rate of automobile vehicles has dropped from 70% to 80% before the accession to 25%, and the tariff rate of auto parts has dropped from 18% to 65% before the accession to 10%. There is no significant tax reduction in automobiles.

At present, China mainly collects three kinds of taxes for imported cars, including customs duties, value-added tax and consumption tax. Cars with a displacement of 3.0 or higher will be subject to a higher consumption tax, and sometimes only the consumption tax will be higher than the ex-factory price in foreign countries. Shen Danyang said that after July 1 this year, China's total tariff level will remain basically stable.

However, up to now, China has signed 14 free trade agreements with 22 countries and regions. The FTA will stipulate the tax reduction period, and some imported goods may be reduced due to the coming of the tax reduction implementation period.
