I. Overview
The sand used for modeling has always been made of silica sand. Because the SiO 2 content is as high as 98% or more, a large amount of high concentration of free SiO 2 dust is generated during the casting process, which is extremely harmful to the worker's body. Since 1970, the study has adopted the “seven sands” of limestone processing, which greatly reduced the risk of silicosis. After the success of “Seven O Sands”, the Luda City Labor Health Research Institute and Liaoning’s asbestos mine processing and casting test a new type of Modeling materials. Since 1974, Dalian has four test units were cast, six units were cast iron test. Tests have shown that it has achieved good results in protecting workers' health and simplifying the cast iron molding process and improving the quality of castings .
The use of dolomitic asbestos tailings as molding sand greatly simplifies the modeling process. 5% of bentonite and 3% of water are added to the dolomitic asbestos tailings. Third, the granularity requirements
According to the requirements of the test, they have produced seven varieties of 10/20, 16/30, 20/30, 30/70, 40/70, 50/100 and -70 mesh, respectively. The combination of varieties can still meet the modeling requirements, but the product of less than 70 mesh should not be too much, otherwise it will affect the quality of castings.
