Cummins Inc. recently announced that it plans to produce dual-fuel engines with a power of 800-3500 hp (597-2610 kW) for the high-power market.

The first product portfolio for the oil and gas wells - QSK50Tier2 dual-fuel engine will begin production in mid-2013. After that, other engines of the QSK series will be introduced, including engines that meet the requirements of the forthcoming EPA Tier 4 final emission regulations. The Cummins high-powered dual-fuel engine will operate together with a general integrated controller to achieve a seamless transition from burning diesel operation to burning dual-fuel operation.

The QSK50Tier2 dual-fuel engine will burn diesel until the operator selects the engine to mix diesel and natural gas fuel through the control panel. The QSK50Tier2 dual-fuel engine will be converted to a dual fuel mode and the operator will automatically choose the replacement rate.

The Cummins dual fuel solution applies to both the new QSK series and the existing running QSK series.
