Whispering Gallery Modes (WGMs) Optical resonators have the characteristics of high Q and small mode volume, and are of great importance to the related research in nonlinear optics, cavity quantum electrodynamics and quantum optics.

Based on the previous fiber-optic evanescent field sensing and WGM nonlinearity studies, Wu Yihui, a group of researchers at the State Key Laboratory of Applied Optics, Changchun Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, first observed that a number of transparent windows like EIT Phenomenon, and explain the physical mechanism of the phenomenon, the related research results are published in Optics Letters 41 (8) doi: 10.1364 / OL.41.001825

The use of tapered fiber-excited WG-WGMs to obtain dense radial resonance mode, by changing the Bottle axial deformation to obtain a tunable resonant cavity to change the mode of coupling, easily in a single resonator to achieve a tunable class EIT, Reducing the difficulty of pattern coupling. This research provides new ideas for designing a tunable, multi-channel photonic device for a single WGM resonator.
