The TCM Forum on the Future Development of Chinese Medicine Industry was Successfully Held in Shantou

Mr. Zang Cunhai, chairman of the Chinese Medicine Association New Technology Professional Committee of the Chinese Medicine Association, gave a profound interpretation of the theme of the forum. Many modern medicines (so-called western medicines) actually come from Chinese medicine or natural medicines. However, due to the influence of Western culture and innovative drug research concepts, domestic natural drug chemists pay more attention to the study of the chemical constituents or active ingredients of medicinal plants, but seldom pay attention to inheritance for thousands of years, and combine effectiveness and safety. It has carried out research on the material basis and mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine compound preparations, especially classic prescriptions, based on the broad and profound traditional Chinese medicine theory. Academician Yao Xinsheng also analyzed that the reasons why traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation products have not officially taken out of the country as medicines and go to the world are not only the differences in concepts of medicine between China and the West, but also the lack of efficacy and safety evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine products in accordance with modern evidence. The clinical trial basis provided by the Medical Principles (EBM) and the existing quality monitoring methods are still difficult to ensure the general applicability of its efficacy and safety guarantee, and the lack of scientific and effective research on the material basis and mechanism of action of Chinese medicine products in the prevention and treatment of diseases. For the future development of Chinese medicine, Academician Yao Xinsheng believes that with the change of people's ideas and the strengthening of international cooperation, the development of traditional medicine has ushered in new opportunities. It is exciting that our country has begun to attach importance to and strengthen the preparation of traditional Chinese medicine compound preparations. Modernization, internationalization research and gratifying research results have been achieved. At the same time, international cooperation has been further strengthened.

Mr. Zhang Natural, an executive director of China Investment Fund, expressed his views on the status quo and development of the Chinese medicine formulation granules industry. He believes that the coverage of medical insurance funds is high-profile, and the ratio of restricted drugs is an imperative, eliminating drug additions and selling pharmaceuticals. The forum also invited Japanese senior expert Han Xiaoyu and Mr. Yu. He introduced the development status of Chinese medicine in Japan from four aspects: Chinese regulations, technical regulations and market conditions. With regard to how to promote the development of Kampo medicine in the future, Mr. Xiao Bing gave six recommendations: it is necessary to use Kampo preparations in the adjuvant treatment of cancer and the treatment of Frailty for the elderly; and actively promote the research and development of Kampo preparations; Commitment to the quality assurance and stable supply of Kampo medicine preparations; Establishing the position of Kampo medicine in the medical insurance system; Promoting Kampo pharmaceutical preparations to move toward the world and going abroad; Strengthening the joint action of production, government, learning and nationals in Kampo preparations.
